Lots going on… (the photos)

I regretted not having some photos to back up my last post. So today I took my camera out after visiting the Rec Center.

See the pictures of the progress here:

And here’s a point-by-point rundown of my last post:

…The track is being worked on.

…there are a couple of areas between the stadium and the parking lot that have been excavated…

…Something is going on between the baseball and softball diamonds…

…The football parking lot is being “Smoothed!”…

Check out all the pics and let me know your thoughts!

Lots going on…

Posted by G-Rant on Jun 05 2007 | Tagged as: General

I’ve been trying to be pretty good with my three-a-week Rec Center regimen of late and it’s given me a lot of “campus time.”  There’s lots going on in regards to athletics that hasn’t been talked much about, so I thought I’d throw together a list.

  • The track is being worked on.  It was a much needed action, and it looks like things are going well.  The old track surface has been totally removed and there looks to be work done every day on the project.
  • In addition to the track, there are a couple of areas between the stadium and the parking lot that have been excavated and “graveled.”  I’m not sure what they’re for… unless it’s going to be for field events (shot, discus, javelin, etc…).  I guess time will tell.  Maybe they’re going to be FieldTurf demo swaths!  ;-)
  • Something is going on between the baseball and softball diamonds.  I’m guessing it’s a locker-room structure of some sort?  I think I read that somewhere.  It’s been excavated, leveled and it looks like a foundation is about to be poured.
  • The football parking lot is being “Smoothed!”  It looks to me like “chewed up” road bed is being dumped and spread out over the parking lot area where we tailgate.  a MUCH NEEDED improvement if you ask me!
  • The football team is working out in that grassy area between the hill and the parking lot.  They’re usually running sprints and agility drills when I drive past at about 5:20.
  • Anderson Arena’s floor has been re-painted with the “Peek-a-Boo” logo.  Currently, however, it’s invisible under chairs and a stage left behind from graduation and left in place for Buckeye Boys State.  I’m sure coach Orr is thrilled with the fact that his players can’t play in their own gym.
